Your Contribution Helps Support the Women and Families of Bossier Parish

Annually, the Commission for Women of Bossier City organizes Inspiring Women Week, a fundraising initiative which provides support for the event associated non-profits. By acquiring tickets for events such as the delicious breakfast and catered lunch, you not only have the opportunity to network with fellow business professionals but also contribute to sustaining our mission of empowering women, as all proceeds from each event directly support our cause.

IWW Breakfast

The Commission for Women of Bossier City kicked off their 2024 Inspiring Women Week with the most well attended breakfast yet. Held at the ever-supportive Margaritaville Resort and Casino, attendees convened for a delightful breakfast and a valuable networking session.

Aside from reconnecting with familiar faces and forging new connections at our breakfast gathering, we were deeply moved by the dedication and expertise of our insightful speaker, Detective Tina Fruge with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department. Detective Fruge shared valuable information assisting us in identifying and being mindful of fraud scams targeting the elderly. She also addressed several of the organizations available to help oversee in the care of some of our most vulnerable members in our area, our aging and special needs community. We highly encourage you to contact the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department for more information.

IWW Luncheon

The 2024 IWW Luncheon marked a historic milestone as our most highly attended and successful event yet! With an updated panel forum format, the attendees were treated to a genuine “meeting of the minds” in regards to our aging community where they were able to glean wisdom from our captivating speakers. Centered around the theme of ” Aging in the Ark-La-Tex” this year’s luncheon resonated deeply with all participants. The reality of life, is that we are all aging, so this information was pertinent to all that were able to join us.

This years’ luncheon featured a lineup of engaging speakers, along with Commissioner Sonja Bailes who served as our excellent host, that left a lasting impact on all attendees. Panel members included the Honorable Judge Jeff Cox, Executive Director with The Bridge, Paulette Freeman, Executive Director for the Bossier Council on Aging, Tamara Crane, and Sandra Franks with the Department of Veteran Affairs. The answers they provided to the submitted questions not only informed but also inspired us with their wealth of knowledge and call to action to avail ourselves of what is available for our elderly loved one and neighbors, and even for ourselves. We value the insight and information they provided, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with them in assisting those in greatest need. The Commission for Women of Bossier City extends heartfelt appreciation for their partnership.

Thanks to the overwhelming support of our guests and the significant sale of tables and tickets, the nonprofit organizations chosen as beneficiaries were empowered to address critical needs from their extensive lists, thereby making a tangible difference in the lives of those they serve.

See you at the 2025 Inspiring Women Week!
