Inspiring Women Week Breakfast and Luncheon 2026

Held during the national Women’s History Month in March, the Commission for Women of Bossier City hosted their Inspiring Women Week 2026. This includes a delicious breakfast and luncheon with speakers from the current beneficiary and a panel of business professionals. Once again hosted by one of our Presenting Sponsors, Margaritaville Resort and Casino, attendees gathered for one of their amazing breakfast buffets.

As we enjoyed our time together our guest speakers, Amy Barton, Executive Director from House of Grace NWLA and Christi Robinson, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Faith and Fostering, shared the mission and needs for both organizations. You can see their heart to serve the young people that are aging out of the foster care system and facing homelessness in every comment made. Closing out our breakfast event, our host and Commission Secretary Lisa Janes, shared how our community can work together to provide assistance for these necessary and inspiring organizations.

We are honored to support these two beneficiaries and their commitment to provide much needed stability in the lives of these young people. May all of their efforts be blessed.

What a beautiful luncheon for our Inspiring Women Week! Hosted by one of our Presenting Sponsors, Horseshoe Casino in their beautiful River Dome ballroom, the attendees enjoyed lunch and our distinguished panel of speakers.

Serving as our extraordinary hostess, Commissioner Sonja Bailes lead our speakers in disseminating information on our foster care system in Louisiana. Our panel consisted of, the Honorable David Matlock, Retired Judge, Caddo Juvenile Court, the Honorable Michael Nerren, 26 Judicial District Court and Courtney Sanders, Recruitment and Support Consultant, Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. With a collective almost 90 years of experience in the judicial system, our panel offered a wealth of information on not only how the system works for foster kids, but some of the repercussions of children that age out of the system.

As they presented staggering statistics, our hope is that the attendees were moved to provide help or support in some way for this very broken system. May it be through volunteering, donating, or even becoming a foster parent. There are many ways to provide assistance to improve the trajectory of the life of these young adults.
